Hello to all,

There are only 5 meetings until our AGM and we have some organising to do which will require an appeal for member assistance at times. We need more members to commit one hour on Sunday 15 to collect entry gate money and hand out judging sheets. Pls ring or text me 0409 860 001.

We have 428 members, For those members who have not attended any events or meetings this year, now is your chance to meet with like minded people, show your vehicle and enjoy the company of others as indicated when you joined us.

At our May 4th meeting I was pleased with the overwhelming support for the $10 increase in subscriptions and no discussion was required. For those not at the meeting, this will cover our new $100/meeting room hire and allow us to continue all the benefits that we offer. Our Club procedures on the website and membership application can now be updated shortly.

Membership renewal process can begin next week – see Dave Coupland’s info below. NB Dave is retiring after 6 years as Membership secretary and we need a replacement with some spreadsheet skill and ability to inform people about our club. Contact a committee member if interested. Pls do not send any renewals until renewal notice arrives. “Membership Renewals now due for 2022 - 2023 financial year. Email and SMS notices with full details will be sent out next week. Renewal fee is $60. Dave Coupland - Membership Officer”
Raffles clarification – we run raffles for fun. $5/person entry at meetings with several draws. $2/person entry on Sunday runs with multiple draws. Our raffles are not fund raisers or donations – some days we make a profit – some days we don’t. Over the year we make a little. The only donations via our club come from 20% of your membership subscription and we allocate this near Christmas and EOFY to charities.

The only fund raiser is the annual Unique Vehicle Display organised in conjunction with RMYC, all entry fees and donations are handed to the nominated charities – this year – Bear Cottage and Marine Rescue. We receive no income from this event. Pls support this event.

Any questions – ring me 0409 860 001.

Events Update from your Vice President David Cawthorn

The rain has cleared (for a while at least), so I hope you have all been getting your jalopies out and giving them a good flogging in the lovely sunshine to your favourite destination!

Speaking of, our recent 24th April Sunday run to Echo On The Marina at Roseville Chase has now become one of my favourite local cafes. If you haven’t been there yet, try it out, such an amazing location and great food! A little known fact was revealed on the day, our very own PMEA member Brian Faulkner grew up in the original boatshed house where his father had a business. He will be giving a talk about this at a future PMEA meeting.

Mid-year over winter is a busy time for car clubs and events in general, don’t forget to check them all out on Classic Car Gurus.

Two major Events are happening in Newcastle in June and July. These are:

EuroMotorFest Display Day
SUN 19 JUN Foreshore Park, Wharf Rd Newcastle. 8.30am-1.30pm.
Entry fee $10. To display, register prior with Ian Ashton 0429592823 or email

All British Display Day
SAT 30JUL, Foreshore Park, Wharf Rd Newcastle. 9am-2pm.

Another interesting one is ‘Coasting the Coast’
Old Berowra/Cowan Toll gates to Swansea on SAT 28 MAY 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM via the Old Pacific Highway.
Open to all vintage vehicles over 25 years old. Cars, trucks and buses all welcome. Depart 9am sharp from the old Berowra toll area. Lunch available afterwards at Swansea Workers Club.
Further information contact Guy Ellis (Central Coast Vintage Drivers Club) on 0414 182 010

THIS SUNDAY 8th May: McCarr’s Creek BBQ, featuring European & Japanese Vehicles

It’s always a great roll up and lots of fun, so hurry and book in as catering is closing shortly and we need to know the numbers. Bring your Mum on their special day!

The club will supply all food and you only need to bring your own chairs, plates and utensils. Raffle prizes available on the day. Voluntary $2 gold coin donation.

Wednesday 11th May: Mid Month Brunch Run, The Incinerator Cafe, Willoughby

The Incinerator is a stunning venue in Willoughby. The parkside café is housed in the iconic Willoughby Incinerator building, designed by Walter Burley Griffin in the 1930s.

Sunday 22nd May: Café Sasanqua, Glenorie

Winner of the 2019 Local Business Award 'Most Outstanding Cafe In The Hills District'. Choose to take a seat indoors or out on the balcony overlooking the natural setting.

Afterwards, you can take a stroll through the intimate gardens and browse the extensive selection of plants. Located in Camellia Grove Nursery which provides a casual and peaceful dining experience. Plenty of tables all under cover.

Don’t forget

IF you can’t attend an event after you have booked, please let us know!. Preferably cancel via the website, (there is a ‘Can’t Go’ link, just click on it and complete, it’s just below the orange RSVP Button on each Event page). If you have difficulty, contact me directly.

Businesses rely on knowing numbers in advance for large groups for staffing and catering purposes.

IF you have difficulty booking online and wish to attend an Event, please contact me and I will book you in.

PMEA also have now available newly designed FREE windscreen information sheets for members to display on their vehicles. If you would like one for your vehicle/s, please contact me. They will be available at the next meeting and run. And of course, these go well with our PMEA windscreen banners, which are available for the bargain price of $25. Please contact our regalia officer Linda Upton to purchase.

Keep those wheels turning!!
